When Yudhistra Moodley swapped stocks for hops in 2008, he had no idea just how quickly his new found passion would flourish.

Re-discovering his Father's old brewing kit was a pivotal moment for Yudhistra and began his enthusiasm for brewing beer. "I started brewing at home, experimenting with my own recipes and soon found that my friends and work colleagues really enjoyed the results," he said.

After years of commuting to his Investor Relations job in the city and with a new baby on the way, Yudhistra decided it was time to quit the rat race and concentrate on turning his new passion, into a business.

A self-taught brewer, Yudhistra started out from his home in Rusthall, working hard to craft his first signature beer, Toad Rock Bitter; a pale, easy drinking beer, made with Kentish hops. Yudhistra said: "Once I felt I had the recipe just right, I bottled it and started to take it around to farm shops. The response was phenomenal and encouraged me to keep going and start crafting new varieties of beers."

In 2009, with the business rapidly expanding and it proving too dangerous to boil wort with a crawling baby around, Yudhistra moved into his own Microbrewery based at Bowens Farm in Penshurst, but never lost sight of his original convictions. "Fresh, unpasteurised, unfiltered, locally produced beer is what I am all about. I source the majority of my ingredients locally and use the best natural ingredients. We do not use finings to clear the beer, such as isinglass or gelatine, so my beers are vegetarian and vegan-friendly too."

 "Every day is different running a brewery; one day I might be developing a new beer, another day brewing or book keeping, or simply liaising with our stockists and sending out orders, but my absolute favourite part of the job is watching people enjoying a Moodley's, it certainly beats 80 hours on a train every month!"
